Case Study A

Case Study A

Our client is an offshore financial institution. They wanted to develop its staff's financial analysis skills and commercial awareness, so that they could carry out more rigorous analysis of lending positions and build stronger relationships with its key customers.

We initially designed a three-stage training programme. Stages one and two cover the necessary technical and personal skills. These two stages are building blocks towards stage three and are also used as stand alone modules.

Stage three is a two day case study involving analysis, role plays and report writing. Skills practice and individual feedback allow the participants to develop a wide range of skills and identify further development opportunities.

Following the pilot course, the programme was adapted to include a foundation stage that provides an introduction to financial analysis for those staff with no experience of reviewing companies' accounts.

Benefits:

  • The building-block approach of the four stages allows participants to attend those stages which develop the specific skills which they require to fulfil their role.

  • The practical nature of the course allows participants to discuss specific concerns and to practise applying key skills in a safe environment. As the case studies and scenarios are realistic, the participants easily apply the skills directly to their own work.

  • The participants learn to see situations from other people's perspective, enhancing their ability to build strong business relationships.

  • The feedback received from us and their colleagues helps participants to feel more confident in their own abilities and identifies specific areas which need more practice.
